No War With Iran
Call to Action Barrack Obama
supports direct talks with Iran and he has made many good overtures toward the country. Support direct talks with Iran and a more peaceful U.S. foreign policy.
Vote No on Kyl's Amendment 634
Economic sanctions are no way to start diplomatic talks. We created a letter to send to Congress on behalf of the 34 state affiliates and 100,000 members of Peace Action nationwide. The overwhelming opposition to sanctions in Iran is growing and we have many people in our government on our side - sign our petition to promote diplomacy with Iran and keep the momentum going.
This amendment did not pass. Thanks to everyone who took action.
No to H.Con. Res 362 Peace Action has sign on to an open letter
with 13 other organizations demanding Congressional Representatives
look closely at the language of H.Con.Res 362 and remove their support. The Resolution did not pass. :)
Peace Action is urging
our network to meet with their representatives who have cosponsored
H.Con.Res. 362 over the August recess and to ask them to withdraw
their co sponsorship, as three members of the House have already
done. Here's a list of those we should
target - they are mostly members of the Progressive Caucus.
S Res 580 is the companion bill to H. Con. Res.
362. Although the language is more moderate, we
should ask senators to oppose it. Unfortunately many have cosponsored.
See list here.
We
need to start NOW – before November - to prevent war with
Iran.You
can start here, by signing our petition to PROMOTE
PEACE WITH IRAN. The petition calls for unconditional
diplomatic talks between our countries, an end to sanctions which
only hurt poor people, and expresses our vehement opposition to
another failed military strategy in the Middle East.
TALKING POINTS •Tell them to work for direct,
unconditional, and comprehensive talks between the U.S.
and Iran;
•The U.S. and Iran share a common interest: a stable
Iraq, Middle East and Afghanistan.
•The U.S. pursued negotiations with North Korea and
Libya-it's time to talk with Iran.
