Peace Action invites you to join
us in bringing the full force of our national grassroots network
to bear on Capitol Hill. In conjunction with our 50th
Anniversary National Congress we are sponsoring Congressional
Education Days to include issues and skills trainings on Sunday
afternoon, July 20th, and coordinated lobbying in Washington,
DC on Monday July 21st. Learn how to best influence members of congress,
get updated on the issues you care about, then take your skills
and knowledge directly to members of congress. REGISTER
TODAY
Lobby
Day Briefing Sunday at Trinity University from 4 to 7 pm
- learn the latest about what our Congresspersons are up to and
what we are asking them to do to end the war in Iraq, prevent a
war in Iran, and to end the scourge of nuclear weapons. We will
also review lobbying skills, have team meetings by state, and answer
any questions you might have.
Lobby Day Headquarters
Monday at United Methodist Center, 100 Maryland Ave NE (the corner
of 1st Street and Maryland Ave NE, a couple of blocks south of Union
Station) - located between the House and Senate
sides of Capitol Hill just across the street from the Supreme Court,
Peace Action Lobby Day Headquarters is our ‘office on the
Hill’ for the day. Meet colleagues before and after lobby
meetings, take a break or leave your suitcase if needed.
Business Attire
is recommended for lobby visits. This is important
work we are doing about very serious topics, so dress accordingly.
You may want to wear comfortable shoes for walking between buildings
and change into dress shoes for your meetings. Washington can be
hot and sticky in the summer time, and it can rain, so be prepared.
Questions about the Peace Action Lobby Day
should be directed to Alfred Meyer, Congressional Education Day
Coordinator, at ameyer@peace-action.org or 301-565-4050 ext. 324.
Please sign up
now to join our national membership in bringing Congress up
to pace with the peace majority on issues of ending the U.S. occupation
of Iraq, abolishing nuclear weapons, and improving relations with
Iran. |
